The Mary Scott Community Orchard is a public-access orchard situated within a community food desert and situated close to several schools in Richmond, Indiana. The design of the orchard is designed to accomplish the following goals: 1)access to free seasonal fresh fruit for residents, 2) the presence of an outdoor classroom to teach ecology and food production, and 3) an inviting and unique area for residents to enjoy. I successfully fundraised and campaigned for the site and organized groups of middle and high school students to build and install the site.
